Justice Department Will Release Epstein Files To Capitol Hill, James Comer Says

WASHINGTON ― House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) announced Monday the Justice Department would soon begin handing over some of its material on the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
“Officials with the Department of Justice have informed us that the Department will begin to provide Epstein-related records to the Oversight Committee this week on Friday,” Comer said in a press release.
It’s a significant development after the Trump administration said last month it would not release any material relating to its prosecution of Epstein, who died in jail after being indicted in 2019 for sex trafficking minors.
The committee issued a subpoena for the material earlier this month following a surprising bipartisan vote during a right-wing uproar over the administration’s refusal to release the Epstein files…

Red State Governors Send Troops to DC to Help Trump Distract From Epstein
A trio of red state governors on Saturday pledged to support Donald Trump’s effort to distract the nation from the Epstein files by assisting his military occupation of Washington, DC.
In total, West Virginia, South Carolina, and Ohio will contribute up to 750 troops to the cause.

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump’s child sex-trafficking friend Ghislaine Maxwell appears to be eligible for work release assignments outside the minimum security “camp” she was transferred to after meeting with Trump’s former defense lawyer, who is now a top Department of Justice official.
Maxwell’s Bureau of Prisons classification shows her custody status as “OUT,” which normally would mean she is permitted to work outside the federal prison camp in Bryan, Texas, where she is being held. That is a privilege that convicted sex offenders are not permitted under the bureau’s own rules.The Bureau of Prisons, citing privacy rules, declined to respond to HuffPost’s queries about Maxwell’s status and how she attained it despite her 2021 conviction on sex trafficking charges. Reps. Massie, Khanna plan September press conference with Epstein victims.
Reps. Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna said Monday they will hold a press conference next month on Capitol Hill with victims of Jeffrey Epstein who have yet to publicly speak out about his abuse.
